Thank you from Panthera

April 23, 2012

Dear Tiger! Auction Artists and Organizers,

On behalf of everyone here at Panthera, thank you for being a part of Art Helps the Planet’s Tiger! Auction! We are so grateful for your incredible generosity! One hundred percent of the funds you have raised will go directly to the field for the protection of tigers.

We would especially like to thank Regina Case for having the inspiration and motivation to make this wonderful event happen. We were so impressed and honored by the quality and number of artists involved. It was our pleasure to share it on Facebook, and we were so happy to see that our Facebook fans were just as impressed as we were. We thank each one of you for choosing to dedicate your art to ensuring the future of one of the earth’s most beautiful creatures.

The iconic tiger is the world’s largest cat, and it is also the most threatened with extinction. One hundred years ago, as many as 100,000 wild tigers roamed the forests and grasslands of Asia. Today, fewer than 3,200 tigers remain in the wild.

Tigers face major threats from three things - poaching, loss of prey species, and fragmentation and destruction of habitat. Panthera is working tirelessly to combat these threats. Through the Tigers Forever program and the Save the Tiger Fund, we are partnering with local communities, local and national governments, and conservation organizations across Asia to implement effective enforcement of protected areas through well-trained park guards, protect and monitor tiger and prey populations, and secure tiger habitat.

Panthera is the world’s leading organization devoted exclusively to the conservation of wild cats and their ecosystems. Utilizing the expertise of the world’s premier cat biologists, Panthera develops and implements global conservation strategies for the largest, most imperiled cats – tigers, lions, jaguars, and snow leopards. By conserving cats, which are apex predators and keystone species, we in turn conserve their habitats, and all the other species that rely on those areas, including humans. Your gift is supporting critical work that while focused on saving wild cats, goes far beyond.

Thank you again for your generosity and support. Sincerely,
